HG Designer Kim Diehl Blogs for US & Gives a Special Recipe too!

Greetings from chilly Idaho!

I’m wearing my warm woolies and sipping on a steaming mug of yummy spice tea while looking at new fabrics and old quilting magazines….a perfect pastime for some inspiration on a cold winter’s day. It’s funny that when you get to be my age (and forgetful), if you’ve saved your magazines for long enough, they’re like new again!

But one NEW magazine that I’m really excited about is the soon to be released April issue of American Patchwork & Quilting magazine – my Late Bloomers quilt is on the cover, so I guess that makes me a cover girl! (Or as close as I’m likely to get.) This Late Bloomers quilt was so much fun to make, and what really rocked was being able to use scads of prints from my fabric lines with Henry Glass, including several from my new Walk in the Park collection.

And like any good quilter, I’ve been taking my perfectly fine Walk in the Park fabrics, cutting them all up, and then sewing them back together again. I’m currently in total yo-yo love, so this is a little mini quilt called Vintage Button Box that I’ve been stitching while it’s snowy and blowy outside.

Another great source of inspiration for me has been looking through the Henry Glass project library and acquainting myself with all of the great collections that are currently available…how awesome to be a part of this family of talented fabric and quilt designers. Maybe you should mix yourself a batch of my spicy tea to sip on while you check out all of the tempting projects and fabrics for yourself, because I’m sure you’ll find something you can’t resist! Here is the recipe:

Kim’s Spice Tea
1 1/3 cups of orange flavored drink mix (Tang)
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of instant tea
1 single-serving packet of Crystal Light Lemonade mix (optional)
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves

Mix ingredients and store in a tightly sealed jar. To serve, heat a mug of water and stir in a couple tablespoons of tea mix (or to taste). Enjoy!

Take care, be inspired, and stay warm!
Kim ~

I have a box of old BHG magazines and a lot have Kim's patterns in them, so I plan on making at least one thing from each magazine.

Congratulations, cover girl! I've always admired your creativity, and I love your latest fabric line. Wasn't a big H. Glass fan until now. Please keep 'em coming!
