Let's Get Quilting - Peaceful Garden - a 10 pc bundle by designer Mary Jane Carey of Holly Hill Quilt Designs

Do you remember this collection? We recently had an interview with Mary Jane Carey, the designer behind Peaceful Garden on our Designer Spotlight series.

This collection, Peaceful Garden, has been the inspiration fabric for more than one wedding coming up this spring and summer that we know of! It's mostly due to the romance that can be seen in the perfect bouquets and budding blooms. See the whole collection here

This collection just shipped last month and you can find it in quilt shops now. Who will be the lucky one to win this bundle?

I found a single fabric many years ago that was small pink roses with silver trim. They said wedding cake to me over and over. So much so that after buying 1/2 yard, I went back to the store and bought 2 more yards so I knew i would have enough when the time came to use it. I finally used it for the trim of a flower girl's dress and it turned out so sweet. I have just a bit of it left and will probably use it as a anniversary gift of some sort for the couple.

I've waited years for a beautiful, romantic, totally feminine fabric like this! Reminds me so much of earlier days, sewing pretty little dresses for my then toddler daughter, beautiful memories. I will definitely buy this! It's gorgeous!

I haven't been inspired by a collection for a wedding but do remember the fabrics we chose for the bridesmaids dresses I sewed for my sisters weddings years ago were the inspiration for the rest of the decorations. This is lovely fabric.

Beth said...

I've never been inspired to use a fabric for a wedding, although I've seen fabric that was so perfect for a particular bride that it "had" to be made into a quilt for the bride and groom, usually delivered long after the wedding, I'm sad to say.

I love this collection! My daughter got married 2 years ago, but we would have been inspired by this collection if it had been around then.

Kathy E. said...

I have seen fabric that I knew would be perfect for a wedding, but since my kids aren't ready to jump into marriage yet (I wish they were!), I pass it by. Someday!

I had a taupe silk fabric that I knew would be most beautiful for a non traditional wedding dress. I made up the most flattering dress with dangling shells for my aunt and uncle's 20th wedding vows renewal. one of a kind most certainly.

These fabrics are such a soft pretty palette.

I have not sewn *clothes* for a wedding, but have sewn decor - creams/whites and greens seem to provide a beautiful backdrop for any theme.

Ellee said...

Several years ago I sewed 3 flower girl dresses. Th fabric that was provided didn't look very weddingish to me, but the dresses came out nice. I've never seen a bolt of fabric that clearly looked like it belonged in a wedding, but maybe that's just because of the stock available at the quilt shops I patronize. -- soparkaveataoldotcom

I haven't sewn for a wedding, I have made quilts to give to the wedding couple though.

GranChris said...

The roses make me think of weddings that took place in my day. About 25 years ago I saw an orchid design that I thought wow that would be beautiful at a wedding. Tastes change and people don't choose the colors and patterns they once picked.

teachpany said...

This is so pretty! I am actually going to my QBFF's daughter's wedding soon. I plan to make a table runner for the shower, using the colors she's picked for her house and dishes. I do love this collection, though. It would be so pretty for many things. Thanks.

Susan L. said...

Yes, I have seen fabrics I thought would be lovely in a wedding quilt. They didn't fit the person I was making it for though, so I used other fabrics. This Peaceful Garden collection is gorgeous!

Just think of the fun wedding accessories a bride could make with this - gifts for her bridesmaids (purses, clutches, bags), pillowcases for her room, a pillow for the ring bearer, pocket triangles for ushers and groom. And of course, a beautiful quilt! Really, there are so many ideas for this lovely fabric.
