School's out and it is time to be outside. Leanne Anderson's Clearwater Critters is a fun collection that reminds of the outdoors. Owls, birds, rabbits and yes, even skunks, are so sweet.

She designs many gorgeous quilt designs for her own company but she has also collaborated with Leanne Anderson in a fun club, A Year Of Love ... A Year Of Fun x2. We will show you all of the club fun in a future post.

Dana Brooks of My Lazy Daisy and Barbara Jones, formerly of QuiltSoup, have collaborated on a new venture. We are giving you a peek today and more details will be revealed next week. It's all fun and happy!
Their new collection, Fab "Friend"zy is at the heart of the initial designs that they have put together.
The fabric collection and the projects are full of fun images and colors that are true to the sassy style that Barbara and Dana love. There is a very large quilt panel at the core of this collection that shows us a lovely group of friends in between blocks of hexagons and spools.
Have a great weekend!

Welcome to the latest edition of Desire To Inspire. As you can see we have another amazing contribution. If you want to be considered for the challenge, see details below.
Let us introduce you to our challenger, Heidi Kuntz. We sent her a bundle of Kringle Krossing by Shelly Comiskey the result is the beautiful quilt.
HK: First, I want to all those involved for this wonderful challenge! I was able to cut a fat eighth of each fabric for a wee giveaway on my blog. [HG: See the link to her blog below.]
HG: Where do you live?
HK: My husband, Ty and I live in Henderson, Nevada, but we jokingly call it "Hendertucky". We are not far from Las Vegas, at the foothills of Lake Mead Recreational Area. Our neighborhood has a rural-vibe with horses, chickens and one or two unruly roosters nearby. We enjoy an immense sky here, with no streetlights. It makes for a quiet contrast to the brightly lit Las Vegas Strip. Close enough to commute, yet far enough to escape!
HG: Tell us about your family.
HK: We live more than a thousand miles from family and it can be tough at times. Thankfully, Vegas is a destination and we have visitors popping in throughout the year.
HG: How long have you been quilting?
HK: My first quilt was a Trip Around the World I made while expecting my son nearly 30 years ago. Using fabric leftover after sewing some baby clothes, I cut it all up into squares, sewed it all back together again, and pronounced myself brilliant!
HG: What's your favorite technique?
HK: Fabric is generally what first inspires me. If stashing were considered a technique, it would be my favorite! I am always excited to design a quilt with fabrics that are 'speaking' to me, and I enjoy each step that provides a glimpse of the final result! Forced to choose, machine piecing is my favorite technique. Once the decisions are made, the pressing, cutting and trimming completed, it is nice to just sew! Whether it be patchwork, settings, or improv style, the anticipation of a real visual keeps me humming along.
HG: Who taught you how to quilt?
HK: Initially, I learned from library books. My oldest UFO is made with sampler blocks inspired by those books. The online quilting community is amazing, a global journal of 1,000's of quilters teaching one another. Education is at our fingertips, yet the resource most dear to my heart is still our local library!
HG: Do you belong to any guilds?
HK: Recently, I joined a local group called Art Quilts, Etc. It is a diverse group sharing a wide range of artistic talents. Art Quilts, Etc.. is one of 20 sub-groups that make up The Desert Quilters of Nevada.
HG: Anything else you would like to share with our readers?
HK: Yes! I would like to invite reader's to drop by and visit at Red Letter Quilts! This was such a thrilling challenge and I look forward to all of your creations next!
Thank you to Heidi.

Good morning! It is a very busy Monday morning here on the blog. First up, congratulations to Margaret Schindler for winning last week's bundle of Clearwater Critters by Leanne Anderson. This week Henry Glass is featuring this beautiful collection, Winter Song by Jane Shasky of Jane's Garden. Look for the collection in quilt shops in June.
Jane paints pretty watercolors from her studio in Washington State where she is constantly inspired by nature. Her paintings are very detailed and so much so that they closely resemble actual photographs.
The swatches below illustrate her fine detailed work and the lustrous textures that she paints into her watercolors.
Make sure that you download these free patterns from the Henry Glass website.
Come back tomorrow for our latest Desire To Inspire challenge project. It's a beauty.
Good luck!
- Henry Glass
