Surtex Came And Went

[Linda Lum DeBono with the Cathy Heck Studio ladies, Cathy, Ellen and Jules.]

Surtex is a big textiles surface show that is held in NYC every year. The show is held right after Quilt Market at the Jacob Javits Center. We rush back from exhibiting at the Quilt Market show so that we get to catch with some more of our favorite people. Many of the designers of our collections are done by quilt designers but there are many more who are professional illustrators. These individuals also license to other markets such as the giftware and stationary industries.

Cathy Heck and her daughters Ellen and Jules run a fabulous family-run design studio named Cathy Heck Studio. Oh yes, Dad is a big part of it too. He was the one taking the photograph at the moment. The ladies wrote about their Surtex experience over on their fun and inspiring blog.

Their first line, Cuteville County Fair, was a darling line. We look forward to working with the Cathy Heck Studio again soon!

We chatted with designer Debbie Taylor-Kerman at Surtex and later on we had the opportunity to enjoy lunch with her. She has designed many lines with her. Her latest two lines are Cock-A-Doodle-Do and E-I-E-I-O.

Designer Beth Logan of ArtStuff Ltd., came into the office to see the progress of her latest line. She too has designed several collections for us including American Beauty and Good Morning Sunshine.

We got the chance to visit with our newest designer Jane Shasky [L] and her agent, Alicia Dauber [R] of Licensing Liaison. Look forward to her new collection to be presented later this year.

Have a great day!
