Desire To Inspire: November Challenge

For this week of thanks we want to express our gratitude to all of the contributors to the Desire To Inspire Challenge. We love seeing your contributions each month and we will continue to ask our readers to participate. The list of interested quilters is quite long so don't despair if you don't hear from us right away. We are working our way down the list. For those of you who haven't sent us your information, instructions are on the flyer below. We look forward to seeing your submissions.

This month our guest challenger is Ronda Winstead. We sent her the line, Morning Mist, to work with and she did not disappoint!

Now it's time to meet Ronda and to see what she made for this month's challenge!

Name: Ronda Winstead

Where do you live? I currently live in Pullman, Wa.

How long have you been quilting? I first started quilting when I was in my early 20's. I've been quilting now for well over 30 years.

What's your favorite technique? It's difficult to pick a favorite technique? I love so many different things...I adore hand and machine applique as well as traditional piecing. I also love paper piecing. I am enjoying working with smaller quilts and precise paper piecing fits the bill so nicely!

Who taught you how to quilt? I am really self taught but I think I was influenced by my grandma Pack who died when I was just a small girl, I was told she was a great quilter and I grew up hearing such wonderful stories. I made a ton of mistakes in those beginning years. I am left handed and made my first two quilts without knowing there was such a thing as left handed scissors, or quilting thread! I chuckle when I think back on those years.

Do you belong to any guilds? No...I really prefer small intimate groups and a one on one. I do compare notes with quilting buddies that live in different states from me. The internet has opened up a wonderful world to me and I have several quilting friends!

Anything else you would like to share with our readers? I have made great friends through the years because of a common interest in quilting and although I go through phases where I enjoy doing different things, such as scrapbooking and other crafts, I always come back to what I dearly LOVE to do! Quilting! I love designing and quite frankly am a bit of a rebel, as I don't like to follow patterns for the most part as it takes away from my own creative energy! That's good, but bad when someone wants a pattern and you can't remember what you did? LOL! I'm grateful to have participated in this challenge!

Thanks, Ronda. Awesome projects!
