Best vacation spot:
Well, I'm pretty biased when it comes to vacation spots because my favorite spot on the face of the earth is my isolated little corner of Washington State where my family's little beach cabin sits. In the summer time there's nowhere better to be for me. I'm happiest at the beach,; "my" beach, of course, is my favorite but just about anywhere there's an ocean will do - or lake, river, inland waters - it's all good! I've had amazing wintertime vacations on Caribbean and Mexican beaches, but as far as a summertime spot, there's nowhere that makes me happier than the mild and low-key little Washington coast. I'm heading there for our vacation in a couple of days, I can't wait!
Favorite summer drink:
That varies, but my good friend Peggy makes the best mojitos and since I just enjoyed a couple of those the other day with girlfriends in the sun, that's the first thing that comes to mind. Oh, the recipe is right here! Thank you Peggy and Beth!
Salted caramel from Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream Shop here in Seattle. Ohmygosh. I can't even describe the wonderfulness. The. Best. Ever.
Studio notes:
Beth has some new greeting card designs that are going to be in Trader Joe's very soon. How exciting is that? You can read more about her summer here on her blog.
We love her fabric, Buttercup Babies!
Best vacation spot:
Bath, England. I absolutely fell in love with that place!
Favorite summer drink:
Mint lemonade
Favorite ice cream flavor:
Pistachio, Pistachio
Note from Chelsea:
This is my second summer living in the HOT, HOT desert of St. George, Utah. The temperature is often well over a hundred and the heat is dry. I totally hated it last summer since we had just moved from the most wonderful place in the world, San Ramon, California where the weather is pretty much always perfect. I was determined to find a way to make it through this summer without dying. Typically we spend a lot of time indoors in our nice air-conditioned homes, in movie theatres or, of course, at the pool and nearby lakes. I started juiciing and running this year. I have hated both things in the past but I am growing to love them. I always try to start my day with a fresh glass of vegetable/fruit juice. My favorite combination is kale, carrots, lime, pineapple, apple and beet! It's so yummy and gives me the energy that I need to get out and run or play tennis early in the morning before the heat sets in. I'm running my first 5K this month and we run late at night at 10 p.m. to be exact. I'm really excited about it and ready for the challenge.
With all of this extra energy that I am spending, water is a necessity as are popsicles. So a fun thing that I have done with my kids this summer is buy some popsicle containers to make our own. We buy fresh squeezed lemonades to freeze and my kids prefer them over the store bought otter pops that are full of artificial stuff. We have done a lot of baking as well to pass the time, so I thought I would share one of my favorite treats. heat over to my blog here for the recipe!
So, all in all, this summer has been a pretty good one despite the heat and I have actually enjoyed it. St. George is a beautiful place full of fun things to do and good places to eat. Oh, and did I mention that not only is there 15+ amazing golf courses here, but we also have a ton of quilt shops to visit, an Amphitheather that puts on awesome shows, 3 nearby resevoirs, and within an hour or two, we have Zion's National park, Bryce Canyon, and Lake Powell. We're only two hours away from Las Vegas! The best times to visit are fall, winter and spring and if you let me know you're coming, I can probably schedule a meet up at a local quilt shop! I hope that you are all having a great summer! Thanks for stopping in to find out a little bit more about me and what I'm up to.
xo, Chelsea

It has to be kayaking, I love being out on the water. With my kayak I can splash in the waves on the bay or explore hidden coves on the lakes.

Free time is always at a premium, so just having the chance to sit on our deck and read a good book is a great way to spend a summer evening!
Gardening, if that counts, I love the planting and waiting and getting to pick. I put in a new strawberry patch this year and have been going out after my morning walk and picking beautiful strawberries to put in my breakfast yogurt.
My favorite summer activity is going to the beach towards evening and building a fire to sit around until after dark. It is so peaceful and cozy sitting around a fire and listening to the waves hit the shore.
