Let's Get Quilting - December 21, 2015

Can you believe that it is Christmas week? It is busy here in the Big Apple. We are winding down the year and we wish you a Merry Christmas. Remember to relax and enjoy the holidays. Ok, how about sew like crazy until Christmas and then relax?

Let's Get Quilting - May 26, 2015 Edition

Welcome back to another week. The holiday weekend was lovely and the weather was gorgeous here in NYC.  We are getting over the rush of Quilt Market and are planning our next one. Quilt Market in October will be a special one for Henry Glass and its sister companies. Jaftex, the parent company of these divisions will be celebrating its 85th anniversary! Look out for some special fun events in the next few months.

Congratulations to last week's winner of the Let's Get Quilting giveaway, Cathy Scanlon. You won the bundle of Buggy Barn Basics. We will be contacting you soon!

Quilt Market!

The Henry Glass & Co. crew went to Quilt Market recently and we had a great time seeing our designers, customers and friends from the quilting industry.  Thank you to all who stopped by our booth to see our collections.

Several designers had booths at the show. We are excited to see their latest work. Janet Nesbitt made her debut as the owner and designer of her new company, One S1STER Designs.

Dana Brooks of My Lazy Daisy and Barbara Jones, formerly of QuiltSoup have teamed up to start a new venture called Tickled Pink. Stay tuned for more details on this exciting new concept.

Mary Jane Carey of Holly Hill Quilt Designs had such a pretty booth. The soft colors and the shabby chic decor was very pretty.  She and Leanne have teamed up for another year of their club. We'll show you some of the projects very soon.

Leanne Anderson of The Whole Country Caboodle and her daughter Kaytlyn were at the show with their wonderful patterns and club. They made up samples from the Henry Glass book "A Flair For Fabric" and we are in love with their versions of the projects too.

Heather Mulder Peterson of Anka's Treasures is well known for her beautiful floral-inspired quilts and table runners but lately her adorable boys have been a big part of her designing perspective. We love this monster quilt!

Welcome to the eighth day of the “A Flair for Fabric” blog hop, and thank you so much for taking this journey with us. I hope that you’ve been enjoying the designer posts as much as I have, along with the tips and tidbits that have been shared, and of course…the give-aways!

While I’m proud to be one of several Henry Glass designers who donated projects to this book to help benefit the Red Cross, receiving my copy in the mail recently was my first chance to see everything all finished up and looking like a “real” book. I was so excited to actually hold it in my hands that I ripped into the package and was completely glued to the pages as I read it from cover to cover. 

There are TONS of projects in this book, including my "Garden Bramble" patchwork and appliqué quilt.

What a well-rounded collection of goodies, and the designer tips and fabric solutions that have been shared left me a little smarter than I was when I began reading. I love that!  

Here’s one more little tip I’d like to share with you – my favorite thing to do when I’m choosing prints for my scrap quilts is to include a “zinger”. What’s a zinger? It’s my nickname for a print that’s just a tiny bit “off” and doesn’t perfectly match the other prints I’ve chosen. Zingers add magic! I’ve learned to always use these prints more than once so their inclusion looks intentional, and I space them around my quilt top to give it a balanced look. In my Country Haven quilt, my zinger is the bright lavender print – if I were to take this away, some of the sparkle would be gone, don’t you think?

The Henry Glass crew had a great Quilt Market. Thanks to all who stopped by our booth to see the new outstanding collections that were released last week. We are back in NYC now and there's a lot of work behind the scenes to catch up on.

One of the biggest happenings for Henry Glass was the release of "A Flair For Fabric" and all of the events that helped us launch the book. Thanks to the designers who contributed and to Martingale & Co. for supporting us with the project. Mary Burns [from Martingale], thank you for working so very hard in the past few weeks to bring it all together. Look for the book on its official publication date of November 4, 2014. If you make something from the book, let us know! We can't wait to see all that you make from this book. Quilt Market - Houston 2014

Howdy! Next week Henry Glass & Co., Inc. will travel to Houston for International Quilt Market. Stop by Booth #608 to see the latest outstanding collections that HG offers to the quilting industry.

Henry Glass is proud to announce the publication of "A Flair For Fabric" [Publisher: Martingale, November 4, 2014]. The book proposal developed in response to Hurricane Sandy in 2012. This beautiful collection of projects ranging from quilts to pillows and other small projects features fabric from Henry Glass & Co., Inc. The designers are generously donating their royalties to the Red Cross.

On October 24, 2014 the HG designers will be hosting their own Schoolhouse Presentations to present you with their new product information. Also, all attending designers will be present at the Martingale Schoolhouse for the launch of the book. Please join the Henry Glass designers for these exciting events.

There will be exciting demos by the Henry Glass designers at Booth #608 at 10 a.m. each morning. They will be participating in various book signings to support the launch of "A Flair For Fabric." Drop by Booth #608, take a look at the new collections and pick up your free tote bag. There will be prize drawings for fabulous bundles of Henry Glass fabric. Just attend any demo to receive an entry ticket for the drawing. Tote bags available while supplies last and only one entry per person, per demo.

Today we visit with Leanne and Kaytlyn Anderson of The Whole Country Caboodle. The ladies were in Pittsburgh for Quilt Market and they are now busy with the launch of a new club and designing both patterns and fabric. Leanne designs some collections such as "Clearwater Critters" and "Why?" on her own. Other collections like "Silly Gilly and Friends" are designed by the mother-daughter duo. 

The ladies have teamed up with Mary Jane Carey of Holly Hill Designs to present this club "A Year Of Love .. A Year Of Fun." Make sure that you contact Mary Jane or Leanne for details.

Quilt Market Spring 2014: Quilt Something Beautiful

After months of planning, the Henry Glass crew was ready to set up our booth for the International Quilt Market in Pittsburgh recently. A lot of work goes into preparing the booth and then there's a lot of hard work on the days of setting it up.

Booth designer [and also fabric/quilt designer] Jill Finley of Jillily Studios did a wonderful job designing the booth and the tote bags for Henry Glass. The theme for our booth was "Quilt Something Beautiful." 

Mary Ellen Von Holt of Little Quilts helped us out by setting up the sign for the Henry Glass booth and hanging the beautiful Folio quilt. This lovely quilt is made from fabric that showcases the Folio collection. These ladies have serious handy dandy tool talent.

Jill pre-made the flowers using prints from the Henry Glass market releases to dress up the entire booth.

This special corner hosted the designers as they presented their demos in the Henry Glass booth throughout the show.
