If you saw our interview on the blog last week with Martha Walker, you will recall that we closed with the question of simplicity, and how Martha's fabrics from "A Prairie Journal" are reminiscent of a period in history when quilt making was more of a tradition built into women's lives from necessity, than a hobby eked out of our spare time.
Having said that, this week's giveaway is from Martha Walker's last collection with Henry Glass Fabrics called "Sentimental Stitches." You may still be able to find this line in your local quilt shop, but it is sold out from our warehouses. We found this darling bundle in the closet. Simple life for me would be not having to stress to go to work every morning, but be able to follow my passion for quilting.

A simpler life usually means a happier life. I would love to have more time to relax without worrying about money. I would love to go back to when we didn't have to pay rent and you owned your land outright for settling there. I also love the old prices on fabric. I would love 22 cents for a yard of fabric.

The simple life to me would be a life spent sewing and quilting to my heart's delight with friends and family close by.

a simpler life would be for families to be closer, in both physically and emotionally. To be able to have the time to make for family and friends all the projects we have in our minds to make for them. To be able to teach our children the basics of sewing and quilting for fun and necessity and for them to enjoy the satisfaction it provides.
The Simple Life would feature less dependence on electronics and social media. There would be fewer objects in my home that do not serve a functional purpose.
I'm retired, so my life couldn't get much simpler, except if I had someone to clean and cook for me. =)
My husband will be retiring soon and we will move to a smaller house with a smaller yard so we will have a smaller house payment or none at all! Then we will relax and enjoy our children and grandchildren. He will fish and I will quilt!!
No television no racing around going from place to place , to be content with what I have and have peace within.

A simpler life would have far less technology like smart phones and smart TVs. Half the time I can't work the silly things and I'm tired of seeing everyone walk around scrolling instead of looking. Life was much simpler with dumb electronics and more time for stitching.
Simple life for me would be in a log cabin in the mountains near a fresh-water stream. I would like electricity so I could sew with my machine and have good light at night, but so many other current "necessities" like internet, cell phones, TV...I could live without them.
It would be the modern conveniences we take for granted today. Then allowing oneself to indulge in their hobbies.
Living in the woods and mountains, near a lake, with great wi-fi, lots of quilting time, and a long arm machine.

Absolutely gorgeous fabric. I feel I'm close to living the simple life. Retired (although my husband still works), house paid for, free time to ski during the winter and bike during the summer. If only I could declutter the basement, LOL
Less technology, less "frills", less concern about things that won't matter in the long run. That's the kind of life I'm trying to lead right now. I'm not an "off the grid" person--although we do have our own well, and live at the end of a gravel road--but I am careful about how I use technology, and try to prioritize how I spend my time. This year I'm trying to spend some time each day stitching, and to stitch when I sit, instead of flick through a magazine or click through a screen. Do something real that results in something lasting.
A simpler life would mean no more trying to amass "stuff" and no more trying to keep up with our neighbours. Everyone would slow down their lives so they had more time to spend with family and friends. Linda

The life I'm leading!! Quilting, traveling, spending time with family and friends...what more could I want?
I just left my answer on the other blogpost so will add to it by saying that my simpler life would include a cleared out apt. where I could arrive home from my ideal job and sew, or invite friends over, or sit with a cup of tea enjoy my simole space which reflected me, my love of sewing, and giving back to the community.
Martha's designs are just wonderful! Simpler would mean less clutter. So much time is spent wrangling unimportant things. Simpler would definitely mean more time being creative and sewing.
All businesses closed on Sundays would be the start of life being a little more simpler.

To me, a simpler life would be one without all the stresses of modern day living.
I think I lead a pretty simple life now, but to be even simpler would be stepping back in time before electronics and all the modes of communication we have today.

I've been watching the "Tiny House" shows lately. It is amazing to me how many things one can do without and be contented. I used to love to cook but there is no time now. I love to spend the day sewing, gardening and taking time to enjoy life. Not having all the modern interruptions would be nice.
The simply life is no housework and all the time I want to do the things I love to do with the people I love.
A simpler life would mean not feeling the need to own so much extra stuff. We can manage with a lot less, and have more time for family and less stress!

I have my simpler life now. My husband and I are both retired and the freedom that gives you is amazing. We are not tied to the clock the way you are when you are working and what doesn't get done today will still be there tomorrow with no pressure. It is very liberating.
Simple life...don't think there is such a thing! I am reminded about a joke on when life begins...a priest, a minister and a rabbi are playing golf...the priest says "Life begins at conception!". The minister says "no it's a birth!" - The rabbi laughs and says "you have it wrong! Life begins when the last child leaves home and the last dog dies!!" Okay my simple life will begin when the last child moves out and I can get his bedroom for a sewing room!!!(I'll keep the dog - she appre3ciates quilts!)

My life is simpler now because I am retired. No more punching a time clock means that I can spend more time on quilt projects and reading quilting blogs!!!
A simpler life to me would look like more of a work life balance where I had more time to pursue my creative interests, travel to the places I would love to experience and spend quality time with family and friends. It seems we are so often "rushed" for time, hurrying throughout our days.
I would love to spend more quiet time sitting out in the yard catching a breeze with my two felines and I am sure they would love that also.

A simpler life to me would be life on a mini farm where I get to cook, sew, plant, harvest and do work that feels right with me. No more hustle and bustle. And no more days spent on computers for work. The only computer time I would spend is to order fabric and get inspiration from other creative people!
