Blue can always be used as a basic.
My favorite basic color in quilting, my go to color, is off white. I also go to small polka dots for backgrounds. They add color without detail. Thanks for the giveaway. I love your fabrics.

I love blue, so usually have some variation of that in my quilts. I also prefer tans and creams for backgrounds rather that white. Unless it's a blue and white quilt--lol!

I am often drawn to blues. The blue fabric second from the bottom in the photo is wonderful!
I almost always end up with blues in my quilts.
Red is my first choice. I would choose any of the colors in your picture, except for the lavender.

I like to have an assortment of creams, whites and beige for basics. Also blues since I use that a lot.

My favorite basics are green and blue and purple
I love purples, but the basic or blender color depends on others in the quilt. I do use lots of whites and creams. The yellow on the pile looks really sweet, too. As for snow, I got over a foot between last night and today, and expect another 3 or 4" by Thursday, and another storm Sunday. That's what I get for living in the Poconos!

Almost every quilt I make has had some pink in it - so I suppose for me pink is one of the basics I always look to incorporate into a quilt.
I really like using an off-white for sashings and such. Makes the primary colors in the quilt POP!

Gray is my current favorite color for blending.
I usually start first by choosing a fabric for the background of my quilt and it's usually a neutral - white, off-white, grey.

Wow, first again. When I pick out colors for a quilt, if I don't have a feature fabric, I tend to pick bright colors in a variety of colors.
I tend to gravitate toward blues - always have!

I always go for the blues in my quilts!
I'm not sure why, but many of my solids or tone on tone fabrics are lime green. I make a lot of personalized bibs and that color just goes so well for both boys and girls and coordinates with many other colors.
My favorite basic color right now is grays. I love gray/grey. Thanks for the eye candies. The colors are just right for this white time of the year!!!! No snow for us- only flurries but thoughts going out to those affected by the blizzard! Stay safe and warm.
I like neutrals in greys and taupes for basics fabrics. They go with anything!

I think if I had to choose a basic fabric as a 'go to' it would be the Pale yellow but my favorite color in this collection is the bright blue :) Happy Quilting!

A basic background color would be grey, but I use a lot of light green colors too.
