Desire To Inspire: September 2014 Edition

Thanks for your continuing to tune it to our "Countdown To The Holidays" event. We love sharing Henry Glass fabric but most of all we love to read your comments. Keep them coming! If you haven't participated yet, hop over here to get the details.

Another thing that we love is connecting with you. The "Desire To Inspire" Challenge was designed to work directly with our fans. We are amazed again and again when we see the photographs of your projects. You can see previous projects by clicking the tab at the right sidebar. If you want to participate in the challenge, please send your submissions to Henry Glass.

Our September "Desire To Inspire" challenger is Amy Smith from Somerset, KY. We sent her a bundle of "Outback" by Shelly Comiskey [Shelly's "Cocoa & Cookies" collection happens to be our featured giveaway fabric this week].

HG:  Tell us about your family.

AS:  I am engaged to a wonderful man that allows me to stay at home with our 2 daughters. Isabella is 4, and Brooklyn is 3 months.

HG:  How long have you been quilting?

AS:  I have only been quilting a short time, the quilt I made using the fabrics I was sent was the first one I have completed start to finish. I have however, been sewing for 4 years. I am a self taught seamstress and sew mostly children's clothes, bags, home decor, and photography props.

HG:  What's your favorite technique?:

AS:  I don't really have a favorite technique. I mostly sew and do things that make my items stand out and have great quality.

HG:  Who taught you how to quilt?

AS:  I am self taught. I read a lot of blogs, talked with other quilters in various facebook groups, and read books/patterns.

HG:  Do you belong to any guilds?

AS:  I recently found that our small town had a few guilds at some of our local churches. I am excited to attend my first meeting next month.

HG:  Anything else you would like to share with our readers?

AS:  I really enjoyed pushing myself to actually finish a quilt! My quilt has lots of imperfections but my oldest daughter loves it! She is really into animals at the moment and she has gushed over the Australian Animals that are on the fabric for her dress and quilt. The fabrics were very soft, easy to work with and such great quality. She's already eyeing the Owl Fabrics for the next quilt she wants!

Thanks so much for this opportunity!

"Simple Whatnots" Club Contest - Inspiration

Henry Glass is sponsoring a contest for Kim Diehl's club members. Have you made a project form her "Simple Whatnots" Club? Send us a photograph. Details here. You could win a bundle of her new line, "Heritage Hollow."  We will be presenting images from the submissions that we receive for your inspiration.

Debbie Wick from Elmira, NY recently submitted her versions of the "Idaho Lily" design. She purchased her fabrics from The Quilted Crow in Harpursville, NY. Debbie was so eager to get started but the shop had not received Vintage Farmhouse. While waiting for the new fabric to arrive, Debbie made a second version of the "Idaho Lily" quilt from an assortment of Kim's fabrics.

Click on the image below to get the details for the contest and all of the details for our weekly giveaways.

Thanks Debbie! Good luck and we look forward to sharing some more submissions with you.

This week we are featuring designer Martha Walker of Wagons West Designs. We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of her new and first line with Henry Glass called "Sentimental Stitches." Although the theme of the collection is not specifically autumn, her prints and quilts are colored to give one the flavor of the fall season with its rich red, green and gold colors.

"Sentimental Stitches" will be available next moth and we are so very excited for the arrival of the collection. Make sure that you download the free pattern for this collection. The quilt features a lovely border print and Martha's simple but gorgeous applique.

Martha has been busy working up new patterns with her samples from the collection. She sent over this photograph of her working on some machine applique.

We will be featuring Martha on a future post when her fabric arrives next month. Meanwhile, she is offering a copy of her newest pattern, "French Reel" to the winner this week in the "Countdown To The Holidays" event. Just fill out the Rafflecopter widget above to enter. Designer Inspiration

Designer Kim Diehl has a hectic teaching schedule but she stopped to share a few photographs of her visiting The Buggy Barn quilt show recently.  She taught the "Idaho Lily" project from her wildly successful Simple Whatnots Club for The Buggy Barn.

What a great turnout and Kim also sent this photograph of her with fellow Henry Glass designer and The Buggy Barn co-owner, Janet Nesbitt at dinner.

Janet also forwarded these lovely photos of an adorable quilt using one of their collections. Designer Robin Vizzone of Briar Root Primatives designed this sweet quilt "Green Tea and Iced Mocha 2."

Thanks to the ladies for sharing and inspiring us all. We love to see what you've made from our collections. Please e-mail any submissions here.
