My favorite summer vacation was one that wasn't planned. I was going to Mayo Clinic for surgery but when we got there they said they needed to reschedule it and sent me home. We had already driven 500+ miles to get to the hospital so decided to go see the upper part of Minnesota and Michigan. I had no clothes other than what I was wearing so we had to buy everything. It turned out to be one of the most fun vacations I've been on.

Best vacation ever was Key West for the millennium. We had a blast and watched the conch shell drop at midnight turning the year into 2000! Met some great people, saw lots of interesting sites and would do it again and again. Love Key West and we will never go there enough for me to get tired of it. Would love to live there.

My favorite vacation was just before I left for basic training in the Army. My mom & I hooked the camper on the back of the car, and spent a gorgeous week in the Shenandoah National Park. We rode our bicycles all over, walked part of the Appalachian Trail, and had a great bonding time before I left home. Thanks for the chance to win some beautiful fabrics, and to bring back some great memories from my youth.

My favorite summer vacation was when my oldest son was 12, and his sister was 2-1/2. We took a car trip 1200 miles to visit my mom, dad, sister, and brother. "She's In Love With the Boy" had just come out, and my daughter LOVED it! Every time it came on, we sang it real loud! My son decided he wanted to stay with my family and fly home so he didnt' have to hear it any more, but it was a great memory! To this day, when I hear the song, it takes me back to that trip!

Well, my favorite vacation was probably when I was a little girl, around the age of 5. I only remember that we went to the Black Hills of South Dakota, Mount Rushmore to be specific. We were a family of six children and my father was a self-employed carpenter. We didn't have money, but we were able to rent a pop-up tent type camper. The girls all slept in the camper and the boys slept in the car. I specifically remember all of the little flowing streams of water along the roadside. For whatever reason I loved those streams. We did finally stop at one and Dad let us go walk in the water. Lots of fun. To this day I still like to see that type of stream along a roadside. The other thing I remember is the 6 of us all setting along the tail of a dinosaur at some reptile park. The only family picture from that day/time period. I've had other vacations since then with my own family, but this one is the one I think about first.

Our favorite family summer vacation for over a decade was going to the small island of Bonaire. It was there that my husband shared his love of scuba diving with our sons. Our oldest son even proposed to his wife at the same dive site that my husband and I renewed our 25th anniversary vows a few years earlier. He later wed her at Marineland with Dolphins jumping in the background. Bonaire was and still is a magical place for our family.
