May favorite basic block that works by itself and alternating with other blocks is the 9 patch! Just can't go wrong; can vary with the 4 patch!

my favorite to look at is the double wedding ring and has been since i was little. mom often put her double wedding ring on her bed. i love the interlocking rings. BUT i still don't have mine done...... i like to make any star block.
That question is harder than you might think, so many wonderful choices. Has anyone said attic window yet? I'll say attic window.

Half-blocks resewn together...unusual variations of fabric, turned in different directions creates different looks & patterns.

I think my favourite has to be log cabin, I love all the variations - curved.courthouse steps etc and I think its wonderful as a modern block as well as a traditional one!

I would have to say is the flying geese. You get to use so many different fabrics.
I love, love, love Log Cabin blocks. There are so many different designs that come from such a simple block and scrappy or color coordinated Log Cabin Quilts are beautiful!
