Kim Diehl is having a super busy year. Her beautiful new book Simple Appeal is available today and it is about her love for using beautiful color combinations in patchwork and appliqué scrappy quilts for everyday use. I love to decorate with quilts. I currently have table toppers and wall hangings in us, and a quilt on the sofa. Kim's quilts look so pretty, especially in that fabric line.

I like to decorate with quilts on all the beds, some wallhangings and tabletoppers. I have some creative ways to hang small quilts. I use a couple of repurposed antique saw to hang little quilts.

I think quilts belong on beds or on a quilt rack for display. I love the look of them on tables but am in fear of someone spilling food or candle wax on them so I resist the urge to make table quilts. I do like runners, though, because you can take them off before people make a mess on them. Too much work goes into a quilt to have them stained.

Oh, WOW! Those quilts are fabulous. Love the wonderful colors. I have only been quilting for 3 years and, so far, have only made bed quilts for my four daughters and their families. More recently I've made several lap quilts. I want to make some smaller ones for table toppers and for the backs of a couple of chairs.

In my home I have collections of fabric, books, notions, etc. Perhaps there is a decoration scheme that would work with UFO's.

If I had more quilts I would use them in more spaces. Most of my projects are small for tables and walls while my grandma's quilts hang on a quilt rack in my bedroom. Love Kim's country feel. Makes you want to cozy up wrapped in one of them.

ReplyDeleteMy office (in a public library) faces into the library and I always have a small quilt hanging on my office wall for all to see. Folks often pop their head in to my office to comment on the show 'n' tell.

The new fabric line is gorgeous! Love those teal blues and the golds. I like to make wallhangings the most, as they don't usually take as long as larger bed sized ones.
ReplyDeleteI usually make throw size or wall quilts, with just a few bed quilts thrown in there too.. I love Kim's designs and have made several from her past books.
ReplyDeleteI have quilts in every room in my house. They adorn the beds, walls, sofas, and tables. My goal is to have a bed quilt for each month of the year for my bed. Kim's patterns are my very favorite and I love her colors! Can't wait for the new fabric line.

I've done wall hangings for myself and others. I have a basket of lap quilts for those cold winter naps on the sofa. I think I will take a hint from Kim and put some quilts on my tabletops next.

I decorate with quilts over the back of my couch,on beds so cozy to sleep under and hung on walls round our home. Plus table runners on the tables. What a lovely book Kim has designed. I will be looking out for a copy of this. So would love to win this and the lovely `Vintage Farmhouse fabric pack.

ReplyDeleteI have quilts all over my house, on beds, hanging on the walls, I have four quilt racks, and three wall racks, they are on the rungs of a ladder, draped over chairs, and rolled up on shelves. I purchased the curtain rods with the clips so I can hang them in the windows as well! Thanks for the giveaway!

ReplyDeleteI used to prefer to make larger quilts, but I am finding that I really enjoy making a smaller project (for instant gratification) and love the little touches of color that can be spread throughout my home.

I just love Kim's patterns, books, ideas, color choices, etc. I use her quilts everywhere and even make them to use as raffle quilts for different charitable causes.

ReplyDeleteit seemed in the beginning i made all king or queen size quilts now i am going smaller to twin and lap size. making a quilt is so much fun to cut fabric all in pieces sew them back to gether and have something gorgeous.
