ReplyDeleteI usually look for polka dots first, or solids. I have been sewing from my stash a lot, and I use Konas and polka dots to fill in, as backgrounds, and the polka dots for quilt backs for mini quilts.
ReplyDeleteHmmm....the link did not work. Is this where you want to know whether I shop for primitives or novelty prints more? The answer is probably novelty prints, all told, if you count baby quilts, holiday quilts, dog quilts, etc., although I love primitive quilts and I would choose those individually over novelties.

ReplyDeleteIt really depends on what I'm making when I go shopping. It could be either novelty prints or primitive prints. Lately, it would be more novelty prints, because there are so many babies due over the next few months.

ReplyDeleteI shop more for novelty prints than primitive fabrics. The first thing I look for (after the sales) is the juvenile novelty prints. I sew a lot of things for babies and toddlers, so I like to keep up with what's new.

ReplyDeleteSorry, I'm confused on where to post the answers to your two questions, so they are both being answered here. When in a quilt shop I look at the batiks first, then the novelty fabrics, then the new fabrics, and then all the rest.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on what I need, which is what I look for. But colors catch my eye, and I often need to search out the display. And which color varies. Sometimes it's blues, sometimes it's purples, or red. I do love novelty prints, though, especially holiday related. I love florals and batiks, too, though. Thanks for providing such cute inspiration.

ReplyDeleteI like reproductions, and I'm always looking for bright and soft colors. And yes that makes sense, to me any. I'm also a fan of small prints. I like a scrappy look to my quilts and make doll clothes with them too.

ReplyDeleteI'm tempted by novelty prints, but I usually choose Batiks or blenders to use in my projects. All fabric is fair game, though, if I love I will purchase it and find a way to use it!
