Let's Get Quitling - November 16, 2015 Edition

Good morning! It is bright and sunny out this morning in NYC. Congratulations to Sarah S. for winning last week's giveaway bundle. We will be in contact soon!

We thought that we would start the week off with a bright and cheery bundle of fabric to give away in the Let's Get Quilting event.  Tell us why quilting or sewing makes you smile. What do you get out of these hobbies?

Enter in the widget below and good luck!

Make sure to pop over to the Henry Glass Youtube channel. Today we are featuring Kim Diehl's demonstration from Quilt Market. She stopped by to share her invisible machine appliqué technique.
Enjoy!

Enter the giveaway here.

Have a great day!

  11. I love making things and giving homemade gifts!

  12. While I love playing with fabric and turning it into lovely things, the very best part is being able to give handmade gifts to family and friends. When I know someone uses and enjoys something I've made for them it makes me really happy.

  13. It is the ability to create.

  17. I've been sewing for most of my life. I no longer sew clothing, but so enjoy putting my efforts in quilts. In my retirement it has become my passion and fills my time. I love it and wish I had gotten into it sooner. Thanks for the great giveaways.

  22. Sewing is always like being a kid. You get to eyeball fabric (like watching other kids play a game), you imagine yourself sewing with the fabric, feeling it, pausing to cut it, finally you dig in and go for it.
I love that my creations inspire me to sew more and continue the art for the next generation. Mainly tho it's the joy of giving, as like most sewists, I create gifts for others and rarely for me. It's their priceless look when they open my gift/creation and I just beam when I see them wearing it or using it:)
    Thank you.

  23. Quilting is a total creative outlet for me. It has become an addiction to the point where I can only go about a week without a fix...then I start snapping people's heads off!!! I love to gift friends and family with quilts and to quilt for American Heroes and QoV.

  25. As far as I' can remember, I was always creating and it wasn't until about 20 years ago that my passion turned to quilting! I'm getting better with each piece that I make! I don't think that I can end a day without planning, prepping, cutting fabric, sewing, or hand quilting! It is simply my passion and pleasure!

  26. I love quilting because it lets me express my creativity. And I've met some great friends through my love of quilting.

I have been sewing since I was in 2nd grade so it is a major part of my life. I enjoy working with fabric and putting different combinations together to see how they relate to each other. working with fabric feeds my soul!

  32. Quilting helps to keep me sane. I spend a lot of time caring for my disable husband, and quilting is my "me time" when he is sleeping or having a good day, it is my get away. I don't have much money to spend on fabrics, this would be a dream to win.

  36. I love the process of taking fabric, thread and a needle to make something that is pretty to look at or useful or to give as a gift. It brightens my day to sit at my sewing machine and create. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway.

  40. I love to create. I started when I was 4, and loved designing doll clothes, then my own. Now it's about quilting and the fabrics and patterns and blocks and finishing and snuggling when it's done. It's peaceful and exciting all at the same time.

  41. I enjoy making things for my home. Sewing is relaxing and I can't imagine not knowing how.

  42. Quilting makes me happy twice. Once when I make it and once when I give it away and see the smile of the one receiving it. Besides it is cheaper and more productive then a therapist plus it's drug free.

  43. I am a quilter, and I love being able to combine creativity with the chance to show the people I love how special they are to me.

  46. Lets me tune everything else out for a while

    ReplyDelete
  47. I love quilting because sewing by hand just slows me down and helps me to relax and think over my day. I also love to b able to make someone else happy with something handmade. Even young people start to appreciate handmade things again!

  48. I sign my blogs with "Quilting with a smile" because that's what quilting is for me - it's my Happy Place where I can be creative, I can ruminate on the troubles that find me but then I'm able to let them go! I quilt with a smile because it is a challenge for me and keeps my brain young, and I know that what I make is apt to be loved by someone. Quilting is an extension of me, and if people correlate that with A Smile, then I've done my job :)

  49. I feel creative when I quilt. Also, since I generally give away what I make, I feel I am doing service while I am doing something I really enjoy and which refreshes me. Thanks.

  57. Sewing and quilting give me great joy. It is my escape from reality. It is an outlet for my creativity. It is a hobby that is educational for me and I'm always learning something new. It is a way that I can make gifts for family and friends that they can't find anywhere else. It is my chance to leave something special in this world when I am gone. It is part of me! duchick at gmail dot com

  61. I love to sew, especially the quilting side of sewing. Making quilts is both creative and orderly, two things I need in my life in equal measure. Most other activities emphasize one or the other but good quilting needs both.
