Let's Get Quilting - March 30, 2015 Edition


Good morning! The Henry Glass Fabrics e-mail box was full with a lot of activity this weekend. We came in to discover many more submissions to the Kim Diehl Simple Whatnots Club Contest. For the procrastinators, you still have until midnight March 31, 2015. Thank you to all who have sent in a photograph of their Kim Diehl quilt. If a shop has the Heritage Stars quilt on display but hasn't entered, it is simple. Take a photograph and e-mail it to us by tomorrow night! See flyer below. Good luck!

    I was given the gift of classes at a lical quilt shop. I learned so many techniques. I got my love of quilting by my quilt guild. Nothing better than a room full of quilters encouraging one another.

    I wish my mother or grandmothers had quilted, but I am mostly self taught using quilt books. I have taken a couple technique classes.

    I've been quilting since I retired 10 years ago. An elderly friend invited me to her Tuesday weekly quilt group. I'm still there! I'm the youngest of 5 at 66. The others are 90,88,85,&79! I'm still learning a lot & they are great teachers!

    Actually, 2 ladies taught me to quilt. The first was Becky, who gifted me with a quilting class. The second was Louise, who taught that class. It was a 4 week class, but we continued for 3 months. It was a blast, and I learned how to correctly quilt. That color selection thing didn't take too well, but I do love quilting.

    Taught myself how to quilt with a lot of inspiration and guidance from blogland : ) My first quilt was a wholecloth quilt tied. My boys still love it. Mommy & Me would make an awesome little quilt.

    I am a self taught quilter. When I learned my daughter was going to have my first granddaughter, I had to make her a quilt.......that was 15 years ago and I have not stopped! Love quilting!!!!!! Taught my granddaughters and my new daughter in law. ♡♡♡

    My mother and grandmother both taught me how to sew when I was young. I started out with felt clothes for my troll dolls. Not sure that actually qualifies as sewing though.

    My friend, Fran, signed us up for a beginner's sampler quilt class at our local quilt shop. The owner of the shop was a great teacher so we kept taking classes from her until the shop closed. That was over 30 years ago. I still meet with Fran once a week so we can quilt together.

    My mother was an excellent seamstress and needle worker, but not particularly a quilter. I inherited her sewing skills but am more-or-less a self-taught quilter. I would love to win that cute bundle of fabric. Thanks!

    Noone really taught me to quilt..started to sew in Home Ec Class in school. The few years ago a friend started to Quilt & I sorta watched..but didn't do much. Now my 2 older Daughter's & I are learning together!! Such a wonderful fun time! :) We are learning thru Blogs, Books & Magazines...and checking You Tube! lol

    /Those fabrics are way too cute!!! A dear friend came over to my house 28 years ago and showed me how to make a Trip Around the World quilt. My daughter still uses the quilt even though it is very faded and very thin.

    I have been teaching myself how to quilt, and my friend has given me some tips. I find the name of this fabric humorous - in australia, the spelling is "mummy" rather than "mommy" and this fabric has aussie animals on it, so you'd think they'd do "mummy" as the spelling!!
