ReplyDeleteMy favorite 4th of July memory was watching fireworks up at my parents farm - everyone pulled into the local fairgrounds like a drive in movie and watched them from their trucks/cars - fun times and small town fun w/ my family!

ReplyDeleteI'm an Army brat & we were stationed at Camp Crawford on Hokkaido, Japan in the mid '50s. I remember watching the amazing fireworks display every year there. Thanks for the giveaway.

ReplyDeleteFavorite memories are our family tradition of spending time together on the 4th. When our kids were little, we always went to our church Family Camp over the 4th with several other families. The kids would dress up and make their own parade. Lots of good food, fun, fellowship, and fireworks of course!

ReplyDeleteAbout three or four years ago we traveled to Boston from Virginia for a family vacation and celebrated the 4th along the Charles River with thousands of other folks listening to Neil Diamond sing Sweet Caroline. That was a first for us! We loved the fireworks and a trip I'll never forget!

ReplyDeleteA few years back we were invited by freinds to go to the Lake to watch fireworks. What a grea tnight. The first time I had ever seen fireworks out over the water like that. It was an amazeing sight I will never forget. Happy 4th of July.

ReplyDeleteGathering with my folks and my aunt (who lived down the street) and all the cousins and neighbors, and lighting fireworks in the center of the street. We put them on ladders to set them off, and looking down the block we could watch as all the different families lit their fireworks. Such fun.

ReplyDeleteJune 30 2003 we moved to Tennessee from Canada. The neighbors in our new neighborhood were having pot luck barbecue followed by a fireworks display...what a great way to meet our new neighbors...a fun time was had by all.
ReplyDeleteSpending the 4th of July at my grandparent's home many summers. Grandpa always took us to the local parade, then we'd make homemade ice cream and have a cookout before heading to the city park to watch beautiful fireworks over the lake. All the kids would get to sleep out on the "sleeping porch" and listen to more fireworks in the night. Magical.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memories of 4th of July are from when I was a kid. We had a farm and on 4th of July all my aunts, uncles and cousins would come by noon and we would have a big potluck. The afternoon would be spent playing baseball with almost everyone joining in. In the evening we would bring out bales of straw and put them in a large circle. A fire was built in the middle where we would roast hot dogs and marshmallows and then there would be some fireworks. It was so much fun and one of my best memories of summer.
ReplyDeleteMy most favorite is as a teen going camping in SW Missouri with my parents and all my Aunts/Uncles/Cousins. All us kids were born about the same time so we all had a blast anytime we got together. It was so much fun for me because I had no sister and when we were with them, I had all kinds of girls my age as the one family has 4 girls and the other another one. I miss seeing all of them now that we've all grown and have our own families.

ReplyDeleteTeluride, Colorado 1975. I had just turned 10 and we were there for a hang gliding tournament (my dad). It was a sweet old hippie town then and we watched Young Frankenstein in the old (as in Old West) theater. My dad was laughing so hard we could barely hear the movie.
ReplyDeleteEarly 1970's. Annual family cookout at my grandmother's. She greeted us in a jumpsuit in a wild red and white hibiscus print- something straight out of "Laugh In".
ReplyDeleteProbably 1963. We lived in a little one bedroom apartment. My parents were friends with some people in the building, and we all went up to the roof to watch the fireworks. Didn't matter who we were at that moment; we all just sat and enjoyed the show and each other.
