  49. My one Grandfather was only ever called Poppy, He was the only grandfather I ever knew. Being Canadian, we wear Poppies for Remembrance Day on November 11th. To show love and support for our troops and to remember those men and women who gave their lives for our freedom. My other Grandfather (who I never had a chance to meet) fought in WW2 from 1939 to 1945. I always connected my grandfathers through Poppies. My wonderful Poppy has passed on, but since his passing I have began quilting and with this line (whether I buy it or happen to win it) I will make a memory quilt of my grandfathers. Both my Poppy who I grew up knowing and my Grandfather who sacraficed so much for all those years for me to live here in a free Canada. All poppies are amazing.
