Yes, I have made a couple of large snuggle quilts from flannels for a raffle. Raised a good bit of $$ for the organization and used a few scraps from my bins in the process.

ReplyDeleteWhen you live in Iowa, you need flannel quilts. My favorite winter quilt has both top and back out of flannel. Sometimes I use flannel for backing fabric. Love flannel quilts.

It is a snowman lap quilt for my lovely sis-in-heart, something to curl up in with a good book in front of a crackling fire. Working with flannel always warms my heart with memories of the flannel nightgowns my grandmother and mother made for me.

ReplyDeleteI love making flannel blankets. I am working on two others right now. Here in Phoenix it's hard to find flannel that has patterns to it. Most places only carry baby flannel. Love this pattern.

ReplyDeleteYes I (with the help of some friends) make lap robes for two of our local Nursing homes. Using flannel on the backs not only keeps them on the bed and chairs; but adds much needed warmth. We use flannel on one side of the nap time blankets for our "head start " program.

ReplyDeleteTo answer you question re. flannel...our Quilting for charity group at church started using cozy flannel as a backing for quilts of all sizes! Living in Montana, I do the same for 50% of the quilts I make to stay warm & cozy!
I have made baby blankets, but also make throws out of flannel. I have the flannel to make my husband a full quilt right now. Hoping to finish by Christmas. This is cute flannel in the give away.
