I start with the pattern, then the fabric. Thanks for these great fabrics, glowing is fun!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I do it both ways. Sometime the fabric inspires me, but sometimes I want to make a specific pattern and then I choose the fabrics for it.
ReplyDeleteIt works both ways for me. Sometimes I am inspired by a pattern and sometimes a fabric line needs to be made into a quilt.
ReplyDeleteIt works both ways with me. Sometimes I am taken with a particular pattern, and sometimes it is a fabric line that inspires me.
ReplyDeleteIf I see fabric I love I buy it. Or if it is a good basic/blender at a good price I buy it. When planning a quilt I sometimes pick a pattern and then choose the fabric to use and other times choose the fabric and find a pattern to show it off. In most cases I can work from my stash.
ReplyDeleteUsually I am inspired by the fabric first! thanks!
ReplyDeleteI have done it both ways, but I am most comfortable with pattern first and then pulling from my stash and supplementing with shopping. ;-) Thanks for the fun!
ReplyDeleteI always pick fabric first (I have a huge stash waiting for the right pattern). Thanks.
ReplyDeletePattern first for choosing a color, but sometimes a special fabric with texture or something else special will be first!
ReplyDeleteThis is such fun fabric! When I see fabric like this that I fall in love with, I often buy lots of it so I can look through my patterns and choose one and still have plenty left over to design something on my own.
ReplyDeleteHI,start with my pattern, then the fabric! Neat fabrics! Thank You!msstitcher1214@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteDepends on the project. Usually I pick fabric first and make a pattern when someone needs a quilt for a new baby or I find a theme I want to play with.
ReplyDeleteBoth ways.If I love a fabric I bought it and then choose a project for it thought sometimes I see the pattern and the pick the fabrics.
ReplyDeleteIt's never too early to start sewing for Hallowe'en. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteThis fabric is sew cute. I love Halloween and Fall fabric. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway.
ReplyDeleteGreat Halloween fabric. Usually I pick the pattern then the fabric.
ReplyDeleteIt works both ways for me too. I fall in love with fabric and buy it without knowing what I am going to make with it or I fallin love with a pattern and buy fabric to make it! The Halloween fabric is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI usually pick a pattern and then audition fabrics!!
ReplyDeleteFor me its fabric first. It speaks to me and tells me what it wants to become. Joanrob8@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI start with the fabrics first. Then I find a pattern that makes the fabric look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI buy both ways! I can't resist cute wherever.
ReplyDeleteI always choose the pattern first, but I will also choose the pattern when I have just the right fabric waiting for it. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
ReplyDeleteI always go to colour and pattern first. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteBoth ways - depends on what I find first!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I get the fabric first, but there are times I work with pattern first. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI like starting with a pattern first and then the fun begins picking the fabrics.

Usually pattern first.
ReplyDeleteIt really depends on the fabric many times. I might see something, like this glow in the dark knowing surely I would be able to make something for my grandchildren from it that would make me buy the fabric with no idea what I'll be making. Other times, I have a pattern in mind and am searching out what I feel would be the perfect fabric for the pattern.
ReplyDeleteI will admit however, that more times, I see a fabric and MUST have it so it gets ordered whether I have a clue what I'll do with it or not. LOL (That's probably why I have so much fabric hiding out in my 'fabric cave', as my husband calls it. LOL
I love the glow in the dark spider print! I saw it in my favorite LQS, Pocono Sew & Vac. Great prints! For me, it depends on the fabrics. Sometimes I pick based on a pattern, other times the fabric comes first, and I design something (or search my patterns and books for inspiration).
ReplyDeletePattern first :) x
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's a definite pattern first or fabric first It's like what came first the chicken or the egg Lol Anyway sometimes I see a fabric and I have to have it. The pattern comes later. Or looking online or thru magazines a quilt jumps out and says "Hey! Look at me!"
ReplyDeleteA little bit of both. Sometimes a fabric speaks to me and I build on it and other times I have to hunt for the right fabrics for a pattern I've fallen in love with.
ReplyDeleteI usually fall in love with the fabric first! With gorgeous fabric, any pattern looks good!
ReplyDeleteGood question! Usually, I find a quilt pattern that I like first and then look through my stash for fabrics needed. So, does that mean I choose the fabric first if it's already in my stash? Who knows, but it's all fun!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric. For me it's 50-50 sometimes I love the fabric so I buy it and sometimes I love the pattern so I buy it. You never know what is going to hit me.
ReplyDeleteCute fabric, glowing, that is fun!! In this case, fabric will be the one to decide what to do with it!
ReplyDeleteI do it both ways. Sometimes a particular fabric just grabs me and then I find the pattern. At other times I find a pattern and find a fabric that fits. This fabric is adorable and I feel a calling!!
ReplyDeleteI do both. If I see fabric I like, I buy it, but I also buy fabric specifically for a pattern.
ReplyDeleteI usually start with the fabric and then choose a pattern.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time, I buy fabrics I like and look for a pattern to use them later. I love scrappy quilts, so it works for me!
ReplyDeleteI usually pick the fabric first and then decide which pattern will showcase the fabric the best.
ReplyDeleteIt just depends on what I see first!
ReplyDeleteFabric! Get what I like. Patterns can be done in all types of fabrics. Love Halloween fabrics. 24Tangent@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteUsually Fabric first - then I search for a pattern to match it
ReplyDeleteBoth ways! Most of the time it's fabric first!
ReplyDeletemost of the time i start with the pattern and pull fabrics after.
ReplyDeleteA little of both. Sometimes the pattern inspires the fabrics and sometimes the fabrics inspire the pattern. I'm always inspired!
ReplyDeleteWell that depends on what catches my eye.... patter or fabric...lol i have a few totes of fabric that got my eye but haven't found a patter to use them in yet lol.... happyness04431@yahoo.com,,,,,,
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric that I like when it is on sale and hoard it until I see a pattern that I would like to make. Then, I raid my hoarded fabric and make the pattern. Thanks!
ReplyDeletePlease click on the delaineelliott above for my email link.
I usually pick the pattern that I want to sew, then I go search my stash. Although, I have done it the other way around also. Thank you, peterstankovich@comcast.net
ReplyDeleteI usually buy fabric first and then look for a suitable pattern x

I try to use my stash, but often a project calls for something I don't have. I love it when I have a collection, because the fabrics play well together. Fabric is one of the nicest things about the quilting process.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it is the same every time, but if there is fabric I just adore, I will go pattern hunting for something to fit it perfectly. Other times, I see a pattern that looks fun and then look for fabric to fit it perfectly. Lately, it has been the first.

I tend to pick a pattern first then go through my stash!
ReplyDeleteOh....I just love your fabrics and I usually start with an idea and then the fabric.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the fabric first! I love so many different fabrics and go to the stores just to rub my hand across them! I make crafts most of the time but occasionally I sew something that calls for a pattern.
ReplyDeleteIt depends. Sometimes I buy fabric I LOVE and decide on a pattern after, and then sometimes I decide on a pattern and then pick fabric I like.
ReplyDeleteI do both. Probably more often I have in mind what I will be sewing when I choose the fabric, however, I have plenty of fabric in my stash for those "someday" projects, just because I had to have it. ;) Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI pick the fabric first and then try to find the pattern it will fit.

ReplyDeleteFabric first, it's the cuteness of design /designer that gets me to pick it up at my local quilt shop. Glow in the dark.........how cool!

Fabric first for me the majority of the time. Works for me. -- soparkaveataoldotcom
ReplyDeleteI pick my fabrics first. I buy what I like then decide on a quilt design for the fabrics.

Sometimes by the fabric, sometimes by the pattern. Either can inspire me!
