Day 7: Little Quilts, Dawn Heese and Vicki Oehlke!

What fun holiday posts! Thank you to the designers so far! Remember to answer the question on each day to be entered into the giveaways!

Today we have the lovely ladies from Little Quilts, Dawn Heese of Linen Closet Quilts and Vicki Oehlke of Willowberry Lane.

First we have Little Quilts! After seeing Jill Finley's Studio, Mary Ellen almost fainted but thought that everyone might enjoy seeing her "stash closet." Did you know that Mary Ellen, Alice, and Sylvia from Little Quilts, was the second designer selected to design for Henry Glass many, many years ago? If anyone sends in a picture of any of their early designs, Mary Ellen will send them some special goodies. Please send the images here. Little Quilts is generously adding to our prize package for today! They are throwing in a bundle of Hampton Farm to give the lucky winner as well! Do head over to their blog too because we know that more giveaways are happening over there!
Best vacation spot:
Mary Ellen spent some vacation time in New Orleans for a wedding with her family and enjoyed all the wonderful food that New Orleans is known for. She 'loves' oysters any way!

Favorite summer drink:
Water! Can't get enough of it! Mineral water with lemon is also a favorite!
Favorite ice cream flavor:
Vanilla or butter pecan
Mary Ellen has a favorite Italian salad dressing recipe that's perfect for any salad or tossing with assorted blanched vegetables. It's a recipe that everyone loves and always asks for!
Italian Dressing Greek Style
3/4 c. wine vinegar
3/4 c. vinegar
2 tsp. black pepper
2 T. salt
1 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 T. parsley flakes
1 T. oregano
Mix dry ingredients and vinegars in a quart jar. Add 1 1/2 c. salad oil or olive oil. Shake well.
Refrigerate.
Serve on salad or veggies. Makes a great marinade for chicken on the grill.

Shop news:
Little Quilts is busy working on many things including putting together kits for fall and holiday ideas. Here's a Halloween tote kit using our "Delightully Frightful" line of fabric! Wonderful!

Next up, Dawn Heese from Linen Closet Quilts!

Best vacation spot:
Panama City Beach, Florida. My Dad lives there and I have spent many summers on the beautiful white sand beaches. Love it!

Favorite summer drink:
Lemonade - the real stuff with pulp and that tart taste.

Favorite ice cream flavor:
Vanilla

Studio news:
I've been working on some new patterns. "Baltimore Folk Album" is one of my newest patterns. I plan to start a wool/cotton version soon!

Best vacation spot:
We're lake people so get us to a lake, with trees preferably, and we're happy.
We just spent a week at Johnson Lake in Nebraska at our daughter's lake cabin. Our son was with us and, of course, our daughter, her husband and our four grandkids. We were out on the boat everyday, ate dessert everyday, had 100 degree weather everyday, and went to bed exhausted every night. It doesn't get any better than that!
Our Newfie, Kenzie, was with us and pretty much just slept in the air conditioned cabin while we were out in the sun. Every time Grandpa would walk Kenzie, our five-year-old grandaughter, Tatum, would go with ... but first she would change out of her swimsuit into one of her cute little dresses. As soon as they got back from the walk, it would be back into the swimsuit.

Favorite summer drink:
I have two ... margaritas and ginger lemonade. I'll put recipes on my blog.

Favorite ice cream flavor:
Haagan Dazs Vanilla Bean because you can make any flavor you want with it ... like adding fresh blueberries and strawberries. Mmmmmmm ....

Studio news: Watch out for my new fabric line, Bouquet Splendor, coming to quilt shops in September 2012.

For today's question, if any, what quilting or sewing project have you been working on this summer? Leave a comment here for this question. 1. Well, I haven't quilted or sewn too much this summer...it's been a hot, sunny one, so I've tried to stay outside. BUT- I have organized my UFO's, and have sewn a little---hemming the curtains in my living room (I formerly had them "hemmed" with safety pins!)

  2. I have been doing a wool project called My Sewing Room, a quilt using Cosmo Cricket retro fabric, and trying my hand at paper piecing...the jury's still out on that one!

  3. Hmm. I wish. But our summer is only 3 months long so we have to make the most of the time outside before 9 months of cold and winter sets in - when there's plenty of time to sew. I did make a dress for my little girl and a skirt for myself at the beginning of June. =)

  9. I've been working on the same project for about a year and a half. I designed a hexagon quilt, and I am hand piecing and hand quilting it. A ambitious quilt for a beginner, but I am determined to finish it before moving on to another quilt. I do have a couple more in the wings, but this one is a constant. I work on it daily.
