Day 4: Jana Nielson and Brenda Pinnick!

Thanks for following along our Summer Party! We hope that you are enjoying our visits with the designers. Make sure that you comment on each post to enter to win fabric in our daily drawings!

This photo from Izzy & Ivy Designs just put us in the right frame of mind for this summer party! So fun!

Jana Nielson

Today we have Jana Nielson from Izzy & Ivy Designs!

Best Vacation Spot:
Deer Valley, Utah offers lots to do there including swimming in the pool and hiking to the top of Bald Mountain. There's great food and Park City just down the road. You can't beat it for a family vacation although any vacation is a good vacation in my book!

Favorite summer drink:
Diet coke poured over a cup full of crushed ice with a squeeze of fresh lemon.

Favorite ice cream:
I can't pick a favorite ice cream flavor. It is like choosing your favorite child - they are all good in different ways. I'm not sure that I've ever met an ice cream that I didn't like.

Studio notes:

Jana's new line, Delicious Wishes, is adorable! We know that you will love it too. Look for the line at your local quilt shop in November.

Best Vacation Spot:
Paris, France. She told us that she loves everything about Paris! Brenda loves the food, the ambience, the history, ...

Favorite summer drink:
Frozen mango and strawberry smoothies.

Favorite ice cream:
Mint chocolate chip

Studio notes:
Brenda has been busy working on new projects. She's promised to send over a photo of a new tote design for us to show you by this afternoon. We can't wait to see it! Come back to check it out. She's assured us that it is gorgeous. We wouldn't expect anything less from her!

She is adding to the loot today! Brenda is going to give away a bundle of her Picadilly Lane fabric for another lucky winner! Good luck!

  2. I love to watch the sites, scenery, buildings, etc. We drove across Canada and the US and I took a crochet project. I didn't hook one loop the whole trip. Too much to see!

  3. I do now like to do handwork in the car, the kids are bigger, but when they were younger we liked to play the alphabet license plate game. They like to play punch bug which mom was quick to put a stop to.. I now play the very same punch bug with my last baby boy who is 14. LOL.

  4. I like to look at quilt magazines on long rides in the car. I also enjoy looking at the scenery!

  5. I can do handwork in the car as long as we are on an expressway. Otherwise we play an alphabet game. A couple of letters always stump you!

  7. Usually I make up penny rug mats to work on, in the car, easy to do and all I need is the black floss. Now that I have an iPad and iPhone, I can play games;) My favorite that I play is called word solitaire.

  8. When my children were little we played car games like "I packed my grandmother's bag...". Now that they are grown I read, sew or embroider, but nothing to complicated. Or sometimes I just sleep!

  9. I like doing handwork in the car but unfortunately I do all the driving now so I need to keep my eyes on the road and take in the scenery.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I love to do handiwork in the car. Thanks for the giveaway!

  11. My children are all grown up and have their own homes now, so when hubby and I take a road trip I take along lots of quilting magazines, and some English Paper Piecing, lots of times I just sit and watch out the window and enjoy the scenery.

  12. When the kids were younger, we played madlibs! Loved it, but now I either bind quilts in cool weather or make hexies in hot weather.

    ReplyDelete
  13. We read and stitch and play "the food game". Pick a letter of the alphabet and go around and you must name a food that starts with that letter. Thanks!

  14. I used to love doing cross stitch or hand sewing in the car. But after I turned 40 the need for glasses and extra lighting made it harder. Now I mostly just enjoy the scenery.

  15. I love to play word games & mad libs with my kids in the car on trips. We slso like to play Brainquest.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I like to read and stitching hexies :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. If I'm not taking in the sights, I like to sew the binding on a quilt while driving-it's mindless and makes me feel productive.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I never go on a road trip without handwork of some kind - usually it's a quilt to bind...sometimes hexies to stitch...or a little crochet on my recycled market bag. The one thing I can NOT do is work on paper piecing..as in 'removing' the paper..my 'driver' has forbidden it - ahhh...he's such a dear hubby, I won't complain.

  19. With kids in the car it can get interesting. We like to play the license plate game and the alphabet game and when that gets boring we put in an audiobook. I can't read or do handwork in the car since I get really carsick.

    ReplyDelete
  20. We like to play the licence plate game. We also have a great deal of fun guessing what personalized licence plates "mean". Mine is PRYTZXB, and no one ever guesses it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. When my children were young we used to spot car number plates in numerical order!
Now they are grown I usually crochet or make hexagons!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I am not the driver on long trips so I get to knit or occasionally do the bindings on a quilt. It is always nice to appreciate the view which we did recently on a trip to the mountains. It was a grand trip and I did finish a couple of scarves during the drive.
Thanks for participating in the blog hop.
    Regards from Western Canada,

  24. I'm always the driver so my game is to keep calm and enjoy the ride (and not get lost.)

    ReplyDelete
  25. As I have young kids, the alphabet game is what we play :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love looking at the sights. When the kids were small we'd play license plate games or I spy games. Thanks for the fun!

    ReplyDelete
  27. When I'm not the driver, I like to work Sudoku puzzles. Otherwise, I pay close atention to my driving. We have really rough roads so anything with needle and thread could result in a bloody adventure.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Car sickness keeps me from any car game (requiring me to look down) or stitchery while riding. I have no problem as long as I am facing straight ahead and able to see out a window.

    ReplyDelete
  29. We still play license plate games. I can't read in the car anymore, I used to love that.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I usually take a quilting magazine to flip through and some applique or embroidery to do. Now that I have a Kindle, I can read more, too!
    Thanks for the give away!

  31. I'm usually driving, so I don't play games (or use my phone) while doing so. However, I love to listen to the radio and enjoy every mile of scenery, because that's part of the experience! Love the blog of all these fun things!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I like to knit or crochet in the car. I find reading makes me carsick and it's too bumpy for good quality handwork!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I usually bring some quilt magazines kick of my shoes and look through the books.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I bring something to read. If I find something I think my husband would be interested in hearing, I'll read it out loud to him. I always have a camera handy as well. soparkaveataoldotcom

  35. I read, and I do handwork. Our grandchildren are 2 hours away, so I usually will take some of the patterns I'm planning on doing and read them through, then have a project I am working on to actually work on.
Thanks for the giveway. Sometimes I don't get much done, because my husband wants someone to talk to.

  36. When I am driving, I am watching the road. When I am not driving, I am watching the road. I love the scenery, and can take my eyes off the road for a few seconds at a time. Wish I could learn to relax in the car.

  39. Unfortunately reading in the car gives me a headache. Wish I could. But we usually like to play a Scavenger Hunt on trips with a pre-made list of 100 things to find on the way...so much fun!

    ReplyDelete
  40. We play "Bingo" in the car...any yellow car is a "Bingo" although my husband and daughter always try to cheat by calling Bingo for trucks and construction equipment too. We keep score to see who wins.

  45. I like to sew in the car. My kids like to play this game where they give a name of a fictitious person, place where they live, and food that they eat - all starting with the same letter in the alphabet. They start with A and go through Z. It is really fun!

    ReplyDelete
  46. We like to have long talks (my husband and I). We listen to audio tapes as a family and I use the time to catch up on my home decorating magazines too. I've even brought a glue gun and felt to make flower accessories from!

  56. I always do handwork in the car while traveling, and usually it is either embroidery or english paper pieced hexagons. :) We love to play I spy on long car rides...never is a long ride dull when we play that game. :)

  57. I bring handwork, and my Kindle!Depends what I'm in the mood for.

    ReplyDelete
  58. We used to sing and play games while driving when our kids were little. Now my hubby and I listen to books on tape and I do a little stitching when he does the driving.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I can't do anyhting like reading or handiwork as it makes me feel sick while travelling. We make a short list, say 10 things, and the children have to look out for them and see how quickly they can spot them. They can be anything that i spossible but not too easy, e.g. a yellow car, a dog chasing a bike, bunting etc.

    ReplyDelete
  65. When our kids were little, we played the game of trying to find license plates from as many states as possible. Now that the kids are grown, I usually read or try to take a snooze when it's not my turn to drive!

    ReplyDelete
  66. We play a game with license plates where me make the letters into a funny acronym. We make up as many as possible. It gets very silly.

    ReplyDelete
  67. When our kids were little we used to play this game called I am thinking of something and you would give a hint like the color or shape and they could ask questions in turn and then make a guess. The winner would be the next person to think of something. We always had lots of fun with the game and some of the questions or answers could be very funny.
