Guest Designer: Jacquelynne Steves

I would like to introduce Fruitful Hands, my fabric line which will be in the stores this summer! I just love the juicy, luscious colors in this liine. The inspiration for this line was the artwork that I did for a book I wrote with the same name, Fruitful Hands [published by Kansas City Star].

The book has 13 projects and 12 yummy recipes. Today, I am sharing one of the recipes with you. We have Pineapple Bread Pudding every year for the holidays. One year I didn't make it, and my brother actually got angry with me because he was so looking forward to it!

For this and other samples pages, please click here.

I did a lot of artwork for the book and liked it so much that we expanded it into a fabric line.

The fabric line has a panel which comes in two color ways.

Since we don't have actual fabric yet (they are busy, busy, busy at the mill getting it ready for us). I "whipped" up a few projects in Photoshop to show you. You could use the panel to make a quick wall hanging, or you could cut the squares apart and use them to make pillows or as quilt blocks. What about using the squares for potholders?

Aprons are so popular right now. Use your favorite pattern (I know you probably have at least 1 or 2 in your sewing room) to make something cute for yourself or for a friend. (It's not too early to start thinking about holiday gifts ...) Cooking will be fun while wearing something like this:

And, of course, we have to make some quilts, don't we? I just love pears AND cherries! This pattern is called Grandma's Pantry because I think it has a cute vintage feel and it reminds me of all the canning that my grandma used to do. You can make the quilt with either the pear or the cherry motifs. This pattern will be available on my website soon.

Don't forget the other rooms of the house. I am looking forward to giving new life to an old arm chair by re-covering it with this yummy pear print:

HG: Thanks for the amazing and gorgeous post, Jacquelynne! Readers, not only was this post a treat, Jacquelynne gave us an autographed book to give away to one lucky reader. All you have to do is tell us what your favorite holiday dessert is! That shouldn't be so hard right?

  24. The holiday desert most special to my heart (and tummy) is my family's "Christmas Eve Cake", simply a chocolate cake baked in a heart shaped angel food cake pan. After taking out of the pan and cooling, I cut out paper stars, place them on the cake and sprinkle powdered sugar over it. Simple and beautiful, (and it's chocolate) !!! Not lots of effort at a busy time, but a tradition that we continue every year. Your book and fabrics are lovely!
